[1] Check if the bot role has been created and adjust the permissions

Let's start with checking the bot role. Go to your server and click on its name (top left hand corner). Then go to server settings.

Next, go to Roles and locate MaryuBot's role. If there is no role with the name "MaryuBot", go to Integrations -> Bots and Apps -> MaryuBot and click on "Remove Integration". Then authorize the bot again. If you need help, check out the Get started guide.

Now, if you found MaryuBot's role, give him all permissions he needs. Start with View Channels and Send Messages. Then go to any chat and use a command (e.g. +help)

• If the bot executes the command without warning, you're done! You can now close this guide and enjoy MaryuBot.
• If the bot replies with a message like "I am missing the following permissions:", go back to Server Settings -> Roles -> MaryuBot and grant him all permissions he wants, then try again. If the command succeeds, you're done. If not, continue with step 2.
• If he doesn't react at all, continue with step 2.

[2] Updating channel overrides

Now it's time to inspect the channel settings. These contain permission overrides, which override the role permissions. For example: If a role has the Attach Files permission allowed, but the channel override denies this permission for the Role, then all users with the role cannot attach files in this chat. But, enough with explaining. Let's allow some permissions for MaryuBot.

Before we do this, we need to check which roles MaryuBot has. Click/tap on him in the user list (right side) and write down (or remember) all his roles.

Why do we need all roles? The channel overrides are sorted by the roles. To explain it better:

According to this image ("professionally" made by myself), we should give the bot's highest role and the bot himself permissions. So, let's go! On PC, put your mouse over the channel and click on the gear. There is no gear? Get yourself the Manage Channels permission. On mobile, tap and hold the channel. Then go to Permissions.

You'll notice that the channel permissions tab looks similar to the role manager in the server settings, but there's a difference. In the role menu, you can see all roles, while you can only see active channel overrides in the channel permissions menu.

If there are active channel overrides for MaryuBot and/or his highest role, update them. Click on them and grant the required permissions (so they show a green checkmark).

If you can't see those channel overrides, add them with the + next to "Roles/Members". Then add them and grant the required permissions.
